A Note on Gifting

What to send when you do not know the person well, and why scent is a safer gift than it seems.

A glass jar of jasmine body creme with a brass lid

Scent is often described as a risky gift. We think it is the opposite, provided you choose for a room rather than a person.

A candle for someone's hallway, a hand wash for their kitchen, a diffuser for the place they drop their keys. These are not statements about who they are. They are small improvements to a space they already live in.

Do not gift a person a scent. Gift them a room that smells better.

For someone you know well, the body crème is the safe indulgence: jasmine, quickly absorbed, soft enough to wear under a fragrance. For someone you know less well, the hand wash is the piece nobody has too many of.

If you are sending directly, leave a note at checkout. We wrap in unbleached paper and write messages by hand, which takes a little longer and is the only way we know how to do it.
